Recreation Awards Celebrate Rural and Urban Achievements in 2025

November 18, 2025 – The Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association (SPRA) is proud to announce the winners of the 2025 Sask Recreation Awards. This year’s recipients include people from rural and urban communities who share a common vision - improving the quality of life for others through parks and recreation.

The 2025 Sask Recreation Award Winners include: Community Wellbeing Award winner, Farm It Forward (Mossbank, SK), Leadership Excellence Award winner, Ashlyn George (Saskatoon, SK), and Volunteer Champion Award winner, Dean Heuchert (Wynyard, SK).

“We’re thrilled to recognize Dean, Ashlyn, and the Farm It Forward organization as our 2025 Sask Recreation Award winners”, said Darcy McLeod, SPRA President.

“These passionate and dedicated people not only lead by example; their actions, their commitment, and genuine care show how powerful parks and recreation is in building healthy, vibrant and resilient communities,” said McLeod.

Each winner was celebrated with a contribution of $1,000 to support local recreation initiatives. Videos were also produced to recognize each award recipient and share their stories. The videos are available for streaming on SPRA’s website and YouTube channel.
