The Town of Pilot Butte is currently accepting applications for a permanent full-time Recreation Program Coordinator. The Town is a vibrant community conveniently located just 8km east of the City of Regina with a current population of 2638. The position is responsible for the implementation, organization, operation and supervision of various recreation programs and special events for the Town of Pilot Butte.


Working under the Director of Parks and Recreation, the successful applicant will be able to perform the following duties:


ESTABLISHMENT OF POSITION
The Recreation Program Coordinator operates under the supervision of Director of Parks and Recreation. The Recreation Program Coordinator is responsible for the organization, implementation, operation and supervision of various programs and special events as well as other duties as assigned.


ORGANIZATIONAL STATUS
The Parks and Recreation Department manages services provided for the purposes of leisure, entertainment, and recreation. The department works closely with other municipal departments and provides assistance to them on a required basis.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
General

  • Develop, plan, supervise and evaluate various recreation programs based on community needs
  • Compile feedback and metrics to understand needs and identify future goals.
  • Plan, assist with operation and evaluate on the “Summer Fun Day Camp” program
  • Plan and operate the Youth Advisory Council program
  • Assist Parks & Recreation Director with day to day planning and operation of programs
  • Set up various fitness, health and activity programs/sessions
  • Operate special events as assigned (i.e. Remembrance Day service, Light Up Pilot Butte, Parade, Garage Sale Days, etc)
  • Promotion of all programs and events as required for the Town
  • Develop partnerships with local and area groups to develop programs and work with community, instructors, site maintenance and other groups to ensure quality experiences
  • Assist maintenance staff as required (i.e. litter pick up, setting up tables and chairs, general cleaning, etc)
  • Any other duties as assigned by Director of Parks and Recreation

Reports and Meetings

  • Attend meetings as required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION

  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in the parks and recreation field or equivalent
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, and highly professional with superior judgment.
  • Strong interpersonal & public relations skills, report writing, leadership, creative and innovation skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and direction, as well as part of a team environment. Demonstrate cooperative attitude with management, staff, partners, and customers
  • Self-motivated and be experienced with administrative duties
  • Manage time and duties effectively
  • Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable sector required)

Education Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • A diploma or degree in Recreation & Leisure Studies, Physical Education, Kinesiology or Education is an asset
  • Hold a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 drivers license
  • Available to work a flexible schedule including some evenings, weekends and irregular hours
  • WHMIS an asset
  • First Aid/CPR an asset
