Location: Town of Tisdale – RECplex Aquatic Centre 
Position Responsibilities:

  • Report directly to the Pool Manager, the Recreation Practitioner and the Director of Recreation & Parks.
  • Supervise the activities of patrons using the facility while ensuring adherence to policies, guidelines, and safety procedures. 
  • In cases of emergency, perform first aid, water rescues, and complete all required documentation in writing (incident/accident forms) while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Assist in all aspects of pool operations as directed by the Pool Manager, the Recreation Practitioner and the Director of Recreation & Parks.
  • Assist with cleaning and maintaining of the facility, including the pool, deck, changing areas, and the guardroom. 
  • Maintain a positive attitude with the public and staff to ensure a harmonious environment. 
  • Work a variety of shifts, including weekends and evenings, to fulfill program requirements. 
  • Maintain current certifications and complete recertifications as needed. 
  • Monitor water clarity and chemistry and inform appropriate personnel of any changes.
  • Instruct the Lifesaving Society’s Swim for Life swimming lessons program in an organized, high-quality manner. 
  • Prepare daily lesson plans for each class.
  • Ensure all report cards are filled out accurately, with badges ready before the final day of each lesson set. 
  • Discuss with parents/guardians in a professional and kind matter.
  • To actively participate and attend in-service training sessions. 
  • Perform additional duties and provide additional support as assigned. 


Preferred Qualifications/skills include: 
It is expected that ALL applicants will include copies of all current certifications and awards when they apply. 

  • Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Certification
  • Bronze Medallion/Cross Certification
  • Swim for Life Instructor 
  • Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C
  • Lifesaving Instructor (LSI) is an asset
  • Aquatic Emergency Care is an asset
  • Pool Operator’s Certificate is an asset
  • Young Workers Readiness Course (if applicable)
  • Ability to work under pressure 
  • Enjoys working with children 


Additional Information:

  • Job Status – Seasonal Temporary Full Time and Part Time positions available (May-August 2026).
  • Wage Range – $18.69 - 23.99/hr depending on qualifications and experience.
