RECREATION PROGRAM COORDINATOR I
1. POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Recreation and Facilities Manager, this position is responsible for assisting in the planning, coordination, and delivery of community recreation programs, facility rentals and special events. The role focuses on supporting effective program implementation, participant engagement and customer service.
2. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Takes bookings, updating contracts and compiling facility usage reports using recreation software.
- Provide facility tours and walkthroughs to potential customers, ensuring accurate information is shared, questions are answered, and appropriate follow-up is conducted to support rental bookings.
- Assist with the delivery of recreational programs, events, and activities for a variety of age groups across all recreation facilities (NRCCC, sports fields, Sports Centre, MAP), including handling inquiries, bookings, invoicing, payments, contracts, layouts, and insurance requirements.
- Assist with the design, planning, implementation, and evaluation of recreation, cultural, and sport programs, activities, and events for a diverse range of participants.
- Assist with the monitoring of equipment and supplies for facilities ensuring items are available, well-maintained, and properly stored.
- Maintain clear and timely communication within the recreation team to ensure alignment on daily tasks, responsibilities such as key control, facility access and facility rental scheduling.
- Communicate setup and takedown schedules clearly and effectively to custodial and operations staff to ensure smooth facility operations.
- Provide support to staff, volunteers, and instructors by sharing information and offering guidance on programs and processes as needed.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with community organizations, schools, and local businesses to enhance program offerings and collaboration.
- Support program promotion through outreach, marketing, and communication efforts.
- Support compliance with safety requirements and standards, identifying and reporting hazards on a timely basis.
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned to meet operational needs.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SPECIFIC TRAINING
EDUCATION & TRAINING:
- Post Secondary Course in Recreation, Leisure Services, or a related field.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum one year experience in a recreation setting, including familiarity with community programming and recreation-based scheduling software.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATES:
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
5. HOURS OF WORK, WAGE RATE and JOB CLASSIFICATION
This is a permanent full-time position in-scope of CUPE Local 2582.
HOURS: This is typically a Tuesday to Saturday position hours between 10:00am-7:00pm. Evening and weekend hours will be required. Normal work schedule will be adjusted throughout the year as necessary.
WAGE: As per Schedule A of the CUPE LOCAL 2582 Collective Agreement.
