Job Summary
The Park Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of the park, ensuring a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for all visitors. This role involves leadership in managing staff, coordinating landscaping activities, and implementing park programs. The ideal candidate will have a passion for outdoor spaces and a strong commitment to maintaining the park's aesthetic and functional quality.
Education: Training in parks and recreation management, municipal administration or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Experience: Experience in Park management or a related field.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead a team of park staff in daily operations, including maintenance and landscaping tasks
- Plan and implement irrigation systems to ensure optimal plant health throughout the park
- Oversee landscape maintenance activities, including mowing, planting, pruning, and pest control
- Help maintain all equipment used to take care of the park
- Build and maintain garden areas, ensuring they are well-kept and visually appealing
- Develop schedules for staff assignments and manage workflow to ensure efficient operations
- Monitor park facilities and grounds for safety hazards or maintenance needs, addressing issues promptly
- Engage with the board & community to promote park programs and events, fostering a welcoming atmosphere
- Maintain records related to park activities, staff performance, and maintenance schedules
- Communicate with external vendors and third-party contractors to provide services within the park
- Bylaw Enforcement
- Policy and Procedure Enforcement
- Managing the “Lets Camp” Website
- In conjunction with Administration, coordinate and manage the parks budget for financial efficiency
Qualifications
- Proven experience in landscape maintenance or horticulture is preferred
- Strong leadership skills with experience in supervising teams effectively
- Ability to build and maintain garden areas with attention to detail
- Knowledge of irrigation systems and their maintenance is a plus
- Excellent communication skills to interact with staff, visitors, board members and community members
- A passion for outdoor environments and commitment to preserving natural spaces
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed for events or seasonal changes in park usage
- Computer Literate
- Previous Management Experience
- Problem Solving and Independent Decision making
- Ability to use small and large equipment ( lawn mowers, tractors, etc.)
Wage/Salary: To be determined based on experience. Lodging can be offered as part of the compensation package.
