Job Summary
The Education and Training Coordinator is responsible for the development, delivery, and ongoing support of Lifesaving Society programs and services, including Affiliate relations, leadership training programs, Swim for Life, First Aid, Lifeguarding, and the development and support of Lifesaving Society Instructors, Examiners, Mentors, and Trainers. This role also supports the Society’s strategic goals and mission of drowning prevention and aquatic injury prevention.
Direct program delivery may include (but is not limited to):
- Society Leadership, water rescue, and lifeguarding awards such as National Lifeguard and Lifesaving Trainer, and Lifesaving Instructor
- Occupational Aquatic Safety Training (OAST)
- In-service training for Society Affiliates and other stakeholders
- Leadership revision clinics and program updates
The Education and Training Coordinator reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and works out of the Regina Branch Office. The position requires travel within Saskatchewan, as well as some evening and weekend work.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Lifesaving Society certifications (need not be current to apply), including:
- National Lifeguard Instructor/Examiner
- Swim and Lifesaving Instructor/Examiner
- Lifesaving Trainer (or Trainer-in-Training/Apprentice)
- Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s License and daily access to a reliable vehicle
- Current Standard First Aid/CPR certification
- Ability to deliver aquatic and leadership programs in classroom, pool, waterfront, and virtual environments
- Demonstrated emotional maturity, professionalism, and ability to provide constructive feedback across diverse age groups
- Strong written communication skills with attention to grammar, spelling, and detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion with sensitive information
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience managing or using social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Instagram)
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the development and growth of core Lifesaving Society programs, including Swim for Life, Swim Patrol, Bronze Medal awards, and National Lifeguard
- Support the development of aquatic leadership and leadership capacity throughout Saskatchewan
- Provide technical support and guidance to Affiliates through communication, facilitation, and creation of support materials
- Apply for relevant grant funding; manage approved grants and complete required reporting
- Assist with day-to-day Branch operations and support special events and initiatives, such as National Drowning Prevention Week and the Provincial Aquatic Conference
- Deliver Branch programs as needed, including OAST, Affiliate or organizational in-service training, public education sessions, and recertification/leadership update clinics
- Develop and manage program budgets, timelines, and work plans
- Prepare required reports, statistics, and documentation
- Promote and uphold the mission, values, and goals of the Lifesaving Society at provincial and national levels
- Collaborate with Branch staff and volunteers to achieve organizational objectives
- Participate actively in staff meetings and training
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace
- Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders
- Represent the Lifesaving Society professionally at all times
- Compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and codes of conduct
- Protect the intellectual property of the Lifesaving Society
- Perform other related duties as assigned
