REPORTS TO: Pool Manager
JOB SUMMARY: Primary responsibility of ensuring the safety of all patrons and assisting the manager in
the seamless operation of the pool.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Check
- Satisfactory completion of all certifications as required by the Swimming Pool Act 1999
- Hold a valid certificate for Lifesaving Instructor (LSI)
- Hold a valid National Lifesaving Award certificate issued by The Life Saving Society of Canada; (NLA)
- Hold a current St. John Ambulance Standard First Aid Certificate, Red Cross Standard First Aid
- Certificate or Life Saving Society Aquatic Emergency Care Certificate
- Current Pool Operators Certificate

- Demonstrate dedication to the position and community
- Act as a competent person with regards to health and safety
- Work evening and weekend shifts
- Respect and support all staff members to project a positive, professional atmosphere always, whether on deck or not
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create and implement lesson plans for swimming lessons
- Ensuring the safety of all patrons
- Follow all procedures as set out in the Swimming Pool Manual
- Maintain an accurate water chemical logbook
- Follow proper safety procedures when dealing with chemicals
- Assist in the completion of daily maintenance of pool and pool area as required
- Instruct students in water safety as per the requirements outlined by the Lifesaving Society water safety program
- Reports all public complaints/concerns to manager on duty for proper disposition.
- Attend all in-service events
- Cleaning of pool house and deck
