Leading countless recreation initiatives from Active Play, Walking for Wellness to Forever…in motion, Choo-Foo created a lasting impact, ensuring that people of all ages have ongoing opportunities to stay active, be connected to the community, and remain healthy for years to come.
“Val is an outstanding ambassador for recreation, not only in Swift Current, but across the province” said Darcy McLeod, President of the Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association. “Her passion and dedication towards active living continues to make a huge impact with improving the quality of life for all people, regardless of age or ability level,” said McLeod.
In 2024, Choo-Foo was recognized with a Leadership Excellence Award by the Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association. This provincial award helped her become a strong nominee at the national level.
“Val’s unwavering commitment demonstrates her understanding of how recreation, parks, and active living strengthen the social fabric of our communities,” said Martin Sampson, CEO of the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association. “Her leadership is an excellent example of the best our sector has to offer—visionary, inclusive, and grounded in service to others,” said Sampson.
The CPRA Awards are distributed annually, recognizing individuals and organizations across Canada who demonstrate a high level of commitment, passion and leadership to the parks and recreation industry.
