For the past 13 years, Carolyn Bates-Hardy (She/They) has been the driving force behind SPRA’s communication strategies and services. While we are sad that Carolyn is leaving her role as SPRA’s Communications Consultant, we share in her excitement as she joins the Strategic Communications Branch with the Ministry of Advanced Education.

From the start, Carolyn’s innovation, creativity, and inclusive approaches have transformed SPRA’s communication practices. From spearheading effective social media campaigns, to guiding rebranding initiatives, and developing the highly successful Connect on Common Ground public relations campaign, Carolyn is leaving an indelible mark on SPRA and our identity in the parks and recreation landscape.

Carolyn, we are truly going to miss your passion for horror movies, your love of learning new skills (including skateboarding!), and the curiosity and energy you brought each day. We wish you all the best in this next chapter and know that you will continue to grow, flourish, and inspire in all that you do!

"It has been my great pleasure to serve the parks and recreation in Saskatchewan. I am grateful to everyone who has been a friend and mentor to me at SPRA. My sincere thanks to all who welcomed me in this industry as an openly queer, non-binary trans person. Recreation connects people and creates community, and it has been my privilege to be a part of this community for over 13 years. I hope that our paths may cross again someday."
