To Our Outgoing Board Members - Thank You!
There is no question that both Derek Blais – two year term as Director for Cities and Heidi Carl – three consecutive terms (six years) as a Director at Large were valued contributors to the Board of Directors over the past few years. Their passion and
strategic leadership have been a tremendous asset to the SPRA board, and we will greatly miss their contributions.
Derek Blais joined the board in 2023 as Director for Cities. As the Director of Community Services for the City of Moose Jaw, Derek brought with him a wealth of knowledge, blending his small-town roots with his experiences on the national and international
stages. His value around the board table was enormous, contributing thoughtful questions and bringing an analytical approach to our work.
Heidi Carl joined the board in 2019 as a Director at Large. Heidi is the Chief Executive Officer at BGC Saskatoon, a position she’s held since April 2024. During her six years on the board, Heidi has been a strong and vocal presence on the board, not
only being a voice for provincial recreation associations, but also ensuring that the people who work, and volunteer for the board are both cared for and appreciated.
We’ve been so lucky to have these two individuals serve this organization. A huge thanks to you both and best of luck in all things to come.
