Continued Investment in our Parks, Playgrounds and Rinks
For the 2026-27 budget, the Government of Saskatchewan continues to deliver on their financial commitments toward parks, playgrounds and rinks across our province.

Coupled with doubling the Active Families benefit, we are optimistic that removing barriers to participation in recreation programs will help more children and youth thrive physically, socially, and mentally.

Key Highlights for the parks and recreation industry:

  • Continuation of the School Playground Equipment Grant, which offers parent councils up to $50,000 in matched funding to build or update playgrounds on school property.
  • Sustained commitments to:
    • Urban parks - $1.4 million
    • Community Rink Affordability Grant - $3.2 million
  • Renewal of the Seasonal Site Construction Grant Program in partnership with the Saskatchewan Regional Parks Association to help regional parks create more opportunities for camping across the province.
  •  $15 million to Saskatchewan’s provincial parks, including more than $2 million in new funding focused on replacing infrastructure lost to wildfires.
