Volunteer Week Spotlight: Jessie Foster

"I wanted to give back to the community that has given so much to me as a child...Each of these volunteer projects have always been a team of people supporting each other. From the park to the pool, we are giving our kids experiences and memories that I hope one day they will also want to duplicate in their community."

Jessie Foster is an energetic volunteer, mother and catalyst driving community improvement in the town of Davidson. After the birth of her first daughter, Jessie and her family moved back to Davidson. On one of her first visits to the local park with her new daughter, Jessie was surprised that nothing in the park had changed since she was a child. Fast forward six months and with the help of other parent volunteers, they raised $100,000 and completely rebuilt the park.  

It started with the park and then she focused her energy on the pool. Over 4 years, Jessie and her team raised over a million dollars and the community proudly opened a brand-new pool in 2017. She wanted the best for her children. She wanted to give back to her community and she continues to do just that as she completes her first term on the Davidson Town Council. This has been a good venue for her to utilize her passion for the community and inspire others through volunteerism and recreation.
