Igniting Parks and Recreation Providers!

Get ready to connect in person with your friends and peers in parks and recreation at Sparks 2024 in Wanuskewin Heritage Park on May 7-8, 2024!

This special event, hosted at one of Canada’s proposed UNESCO World Heritage Sites, offers a unique opportunity to connect with the land and each other. It's the perfect place for our industry to gather together for the first time since 2019 and be inspired!

What is Sparks?

Sparks 2024 is an opportunity for parks and recreation providers across Saskatchewan to come together and ignite the industry.

Whether you work in parks and recreation as a professional or volunteer, or you're an advocate, ally or decision maker in a related sector, join us for a networking and professional development event that will guide the future of the recreation industry.

Sparks 2024 will focus on:

  • Trends and innovation
  • The critical role of parks and recreation as a driver of community development, wellbeing and belonging
  • The role, impact and future of parks and recreation in Saskatchewan
  • Networking to inspire collaboration
  • Best practices to activate recreation's potential in your community

We’ve teamed up with Tamarack Institute , specialists in collaborative leadership and community engagement. Together at Sparks 2024, we will provide the kindling to inspire and ignite future opportunities for the industry and its impact on quality of life.

Transportation

Transportation will be provided to and from Wanuskewin Heritage Park to registered delegates staying at the host hotel on May 7-8. Please see the Event Schedule above for departure times and details. 

Parking is free at the Saskatoon Inn and Wanusekwin Heritage Park.

  • A HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development certification course will be offered on May 6, and is a great opportunity for new recreation practitioners, volunteers and professionals.
  • A Recreation Practitioner’s Innovations Meeting will be offered on May 6, and is a great opportunity to gather with fellow recreation practitioners from across the province.
 
  • The Cheers to Recreation Event, hosted by the Saskatchewan Association of Recreation Professionals is happening on May 6 at the Saskatoon Inn. This casual, come and go event is a chance to mingle with fellow recreation professionals and enjoy some complimentary appetizers.
