If you would like to teach yoga to those who may require chair assistance but you are not sure you feel well enough prepared to do so, this may be the right workshop for you. We will work together to learn how to modify yoga poses with chair support and have plenty of opportunity to practice teaching what we learn in a safe, encouraging and non-judgmental environment. We will examine safety and health considerations and consider how chair assisted yoga meshes with yoga philosophy.  We will learn applicable core and back anatomy and practice accessing and strengthening deep stabilizing muscles to learn how to build deep core work into a safe and enjoyable practice for your Chair Assisted yogis. The emphasis of this workshop is to help you broaden your teaching skills in a fun and practical way and to give you the confidence and knowledge to provide a service to those in your community who would benefit from Chair Assisted Yoga.

Date
:  March 24-25, 2018
Time:  9 am – 6 pm
Location:  Namaskar Yoga Saskatoon
Cost:  $350.00
CECs: 12

Description:  Yin is a form of yoga practice that places safe, healthy stress on the connective tissues, primarily the tendons, ligaments and fascia in the lower back and hips.  Participants are given the opportunity to hold the Yin poses for longer periods of time to encourage the connective tissues to release and regain ability to function in their normal range of motion.  Each participant is encouraged to adjust the poses and length of time held to what feels best for them.  Yin Yoga is excellent "cross-training" for very active yoga practice and also encourages physical and mental release of stress.  The practice can be challenging because of the length of time some of the poses might be held; please note this is not a Restorative Class.
