Mosaic Place, located in Canada’s Most Notorious City of Moose Jaw, is currently accepting applications for the Position of Director of Operations. The 210,000 square foot facility is in the heart of the historic downtown and is host to the WHL Moose Jaw Warriors, the AAA Warriors, 8 sheet curling rink as well as meeting and conference space.
Utilizing initiative and independent judgment, the Director of Operations works closely with the General Manager/AGM in planning, budgeting, directing and managing operations of the facilities. In addition, the Director of Operations manages, supervises and coordinates the day-to-day operations of the facilities, including engineering, maintenance, technology support systems, set-up/changeovers, custodial/housekeeping and grounds keeping. Provides overall administrative planning, direction, and policies to operating managers and supervisors, assuring the highest quality service program. The Director of Operations directs an effective and cost-efficient department by controlling the Operations Department operating budgets and provides highly responsible staff assistance to the General Manager/AGM.

QUALIFICATIONS:
▪ College or Technical Degree required
▪ Minimum of five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in a sports facility, arena, performing arts facility or other multi-purpose public assembly facility
▪ Demonstrated knowledge of facility operations, physical plant management, budget preparation and personnel management
▪ Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
▪ Ability to function in fast-paced, constantly changing, high pressure environment
▪ Proficient in use of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
▪ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
▪ Possession of, or ability to obtain a 5th Class Refrigeration Certificate or a Refrigeration Operator Certificate
▪ Familiarity with WorkSafe Saskatchewan, Technical Safety Authority Saskatchewan and CSA standards and regulations as it relates to the facilities
▪ Knowledge of principles of supervision and training
▪ Knowledge of fire and public safety regulations
▪ Familiarity with terminology used in entertainment and convention settings

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
▪ Provide overall leadership to the Operations Department.
▪ Oversees daily operation and maintenance of Mosaic Place, Moose Jaw Curling Centre and all associated facilities and amenities. Including, but not limited to HVAC, sound, lighting, ice making, fire protection, life safety, workplace safety, communications, scoreboard, etc…
▪ Oversees the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and priorities of assigned departments, programs and functions
▪ Assist in establishing and monitoring work performance and safety standards
▪ Administers and negotiates contracts with outside vendors including pest control, janitorial supply, waste management, snow removal etc.
▪ Manage the facility’s use of the Micromain program ensuring staff is in compliance with departmental standards and completing reporting requirements.
▪ Development and administer the Operations Department Budget; forecasting funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor and approve all facility related expenditures; make recommendations for, and implement approved budget adjustments as necessary
▪ Develop and maintain a 10 year Capital Budget for purchases related to facility structure and equipment
▪ Manage and maintain the building equipment reserve
