Take the Lead!® is more accessible than ever!
Since 2009, Take the Lead! has fostered leadership skills in youth aged 11 to 14 through its Youth Leader and Leadership Coach training. To make this program even more accessible and affordable, communities, organizations and schools can now host Take the Lead! training in-person at no cost, thanks to funding from Sask Lotteries.
“Take the Lead! contributes to enhanced confidence, increased responsibility and resiliency in youth. The program demonstrates how, when youth are empowered and engaged, they can have a tremendous impact on the well-being of their communities.” - Kelsey Michaluk, SPRA Youth Engagement Consultant
By using Take the Lead! resources and training, Youth Leaders and Leadership Coaches can ensure active, fun and safe play opportunities, providing more physical activity opportunities for youth and their peers.
Hosts may choose between two training programs: Youth Leader and Leadership Coach.
Youth Leader training is 7.5 hours long and is designed for youth ages 11-14. The training builds leadership skills, promotes teamwork and teambuilding, enhances communication skills and empowers youth to lead their peers or classmates in safe, fun and inclusive activities.
Leadership Coach training is 7.5 hours long and engages adults (teachers, coaches, program leaders) who want to support Take the Lead! programs. Through training, Leadership Coaches gain the skills to help Youth Leaders and facilitate future Youth Leader training.
