Course Information: Registration starts at 8:00 a.m. Course starts at 8:30 a.m. sharp to 4:30 p.m. The morning will be classroom instruction. The afternoon will be practical demonstrations. Proper steel toe footwear, PPE and clothing is required for the practical demonstration. Lunch is not provided.

Course Summary

This is an introductory course that provides professional instruction on proper sports field maintenance. Playing on sports fields that are too wet is a major reason for injury to players and to facilities. This course talks about this major problem and other areas including pitcher’s mound, home plate and bullpen areas, base paths and infield maintenance. This is a practical course combined with classroom instruction.  Various pieces of equipment will be described and methods will be demonstrated on field where possible. Turf Management has been added to examine best practices for the care of sports turf.
