Investing in Healthy People and Recreation Infrastructure
On September 30, 2008 the Government of Saskatchewan announced that they will be engaging rural and urban municipalities and other key stakeholders, in consultations to assist in the development of a new Saskatchewan Tourism, Park, Culture and Sport (TPCS) infrastructure program.
The Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association (SPRA) was invited to participate in the consultation process. To ensure the concerns of the S.P.R.A membership were reflected, and the questions posed to SPRA by TPCS were answered, SPRA sent out an on-line survey to members and conducted its own consultations with SPRA Membership on Thursday, November 13, 2008.
The purpose of the survey and the focus group meeting was to provide SPRA with member input, to identify key elements that the TPCS should include in an infrastructure program for structural and environmental infrastructure related to recreation.
On January 12, 2009 the Ministry of Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport released a Summary of the Infrastructure Program Consultations.
