The Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association (SPRA) is excited to announce the appointment of R. Todd Shafer as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective May 1, 2018.
Todd has held leadership positions in several non-profit sport and recreation organizations, including recent roles as General Manager for the 2018 Arctic Winter Games and as General Manager of the Northwest Territories Sport and Recreation Council (NWT/Nunavut Lotteries).
"I'm excited to return home to Saskatchewan. The opportunity to join SPRA, an organization with such a solid reputation in the recreation field, is a dream come true for me," said Todd. "I look forward to sharing my experiences, and learning from the staff, Board and membership to build on the great work that has been accomplished to date."
Todd brings with him a passion for leadership and learning, and a fundamental belief in the importance of recreation and its role in the development of people, communities and environments. He has over 25 years of sport and recreation administration experience in rural and urban centres throughout Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories.
SPRA welcomes R. Todd Shafer to the organization. His experience and vision will guide SPRA through a strategic planning process in 2018, and lead the sector forward as it continues to improve the quality of life in Saskatchewan through recreation. He is preceded by Norm Campbell, who served SPRA and the sector in his role as Chief Executive Officer for over 17 years.
