2010 SPRA Conference and AGM - Register Now!

There is a buzz being heard around the world about Saskatchewan.  From our innovative economy to our high quality of life, Saskatchewan is Surging forward and proving that we are the beacon of the prairies.  The impact Saskatchewan’s recreation and parks sector is having on communities, families and individuals in the Province is growing, and SPRA is committed to ensuring that recreation practitioners and volunteers are equipped with the tools, skills and knowledge to strengthen and sustain the sector’s momentum.

Join us from October 14 to 16, for the 2010 SPRA Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM). Conference sessions and keynotes will demonstrate ways in which the field of recreation can advance in the areas of technology, community engagement, and operational effectiveness and address the physical inactivity crisis affecting Saskatchewan and the Country.

Pre-Conference Session

Join SPRA on Thursday, October 14, 2010, for a Pre-Conference Panel Discussion. The Pre-Conference session is being offered in conjunction with the 2010 SPRA Conference and Annual General Meeting. This Pre-Conference session is being offered free of charge and is open to the public to attend, however, pre-registration is required.  The Pre-Conference Session is scheduled to take place from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in the Cannington Room at the Regina Inn in Regina, Saskatchewan.

This thought provoking Panel Discussion will focus on examining the future state of recreation in Saskatchewan and how current and future trends are shaping the recreation sector. Panel members include the following:

  • Jack Harper – Jack Harper & Associates
  • Dr. Ralph Nilson –  President and Vice-Chancellor, Vancouver Island University
  • Dr. Don Hunter – Don Hunter Consulting
  • Dr. John Crompton – Distinguished Professor, Texas A&M University

Keynotes

SPRA has a excellent line-up of Keynotes including:
John Crompton - A Distinguished Professor and Regents Professor of Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences at Texas A&M University. This Keynote session will examine the characteristics of a facilitative agency climate that encourages its personnel to develop innovate practices.

Ron McCarville - Ron brings over 30 years of experience in leisure administration to this session. This Keynote will highlight the power of leisure and what it means as we address the challenges faced by our communities.

Jim Carroll - A world-renowned futurist, trends and innovation expert. This Keynote will help you deal with the challenges of the economic correction through a focus on innovation.

Online Registration

To access the online registration option you must be a registered SPRA user. Follow these steps to set up your SPRA registered user account and sign-up for the Conference:

1. Click the "Sign in" button at the top right-hand corner of the website and you will be redirected to the Windows Live ID login page.

2. If you have Live ID credentials, enter your username and password. If not, sign up for an account and then enter the username and password.

3. New users will be redirected to a Profile page and asked to enter an invitation code. If you do not have an invitation code, click register without invitation code. A code will than be sent to your email address.  

Returning users will be redirected to the page they were on before logging in or to a Welcome Page.  On the Welcome Page there are links to update your Contact Information, Account Information, Register for Conference and Events and search for facilities.

4. Click the Conference link. You will then have the option to register for a Conference, Select the sessions you would like to attend and pay the Conference Registration Fee online with PayPal.

Conference Hotel

Rooms have been blocked at the Regina Inn (306-525-6767) for out of town delegates. Please book under the SPRA Conference and AGM to receive the special standard room rate of $119.00/night. Trade Show

In conjunction with the 2010 SPRA Conference, a Trade Show will be held at the Regina Inn on Thursday, October 14, 2010.  This event will be a great opportunity to network with Administrators, Purchasing Officers, Recreation Directors and Managers directly responsible for purchasing parks and recreational products.  There is an estimated attendance of 200 delegates at this event. 

Space is limited at the Trade Show and booth assignments will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis, as registration forms are received.  To register, please complete the below registration form and fax or mail to SPRA by Friday, September 3, 2010.
