Advocate for recreation!
Saskatchewan residents will be headed to the polls on November 7 for the 2011 Provincial Election. To assist our members in their advocacy efforts, the Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association (SPRA) has prepared the Election Kit: Ensure Parks and Recreation is on the Radar. This document provides members with valuable resources to use when meeting with party candidates to raise awareness of the importance of the parks and recreation sector and convey concerns pertaining to the industry.
The Election Kit contains:
- Parks and Recreation Backgrounder - The Backgrounder defines recreation and includes facts and statistics that support statements regarding the value and benefits of parks and recreation.
- Briefing Notes on issues including Physical Activity, Recreation Infrastructure/Built Environment, After-School Recreation Programming and Education for Recreation Professionals. Each Briefing Note explains the issue, provides background into the issue and requested action.
